The holiday season is magical in Minnesota. Not only do we have the landscape of a winter wonderland, there is simply something in the air that brings feelings of cheer and warmth (despite what Ken Barlow might say…).
Whether you’re looking for a cute new ornament for your tree, the perfect gift for a loved one, or a memorable activity that’s fun for the whole family, there are endless holiday markets in the Twin Cities.
With everything from handmade decorations to mouth-watering baked goods, let’s take a look at the five best holiday markets around Minnesota.
1. St. Paul’s European Christmas Market
Open Friday through Sunday from the end of November through December 22, this is a free event in the heart of the capital. Located at 240 E Kellogg Blvd, this is where you will find true European holiday cheer! There are 70 vendors offering everything from crafts to unique gifts. There is a holiday train and carousel that are sure to bring a smile to your child’s face!
We can’t write about festive markets in Minnesota without talking about the HolidayTraditions Market. Located in the East Plaza of St. Paul’s Union Depot, it’s open Friday through Sunday from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM. There are endless amounts of one-of-a-kind gifts, waiting to be gifted. Swing over to Rice Park for a majestic evening of ice skating in the city!
Take a trip east to Stillwater to feel like you’ve just stepped into a charming Lifetime movie. This event transforms downtown Stillwater into a bustling world filled with holiday lights, decorations, and fun activities. Whether you bring the kiddos to meet Santa or enjoy a romantic horse-drawn sleigh ride, this is a great place to go during the first three weekends of December.
4. Walker Winter Market
Many of Hornig Companies properties are in the Lake Loop area, making this next market just a hop, skip, and a jump away! On Saturdays in December, you and your loved ones can make your way to 725 Vineland Place from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM. There is live music, crafts for kids, food from local vendors, and plenty of ornate items that could make perfect stocking stuffers.
If you’re looking for a festive market where you can bring your dog, look no further than Linden Hills Holiday Market. Running from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM through December 23rd, the Sunnyside Gardens is barely recognizable. Throughout the year, this is a favorite neighborhood park, but come November, 3723 44th Street W turns into a snow globe. This is the perfect spot to snag a real, live tree and peak at the goodies from over 60 vendors!
